By Andre Bernee

Losing ones hair is not something any man anticipated with pleasure. In our culture it is a sign of advanced years. Men are thought to be 10 to 15 years older than their actual age when they have hair loss. But there are options available to treat the loss of hair. You don't have to just watch the hair fall out.

One of the oldest methods used to treat hair loss is the toupee. Of course the name has been changed now because the old word is so tied in to comedy. Men losing their hair piece was a butt of jokes in movies for years.

The new name for hair pieces is hair replacement systems. No one would confuse that name for something funny. Not only the name has been changed though. New ways to attach the item and improved base materials offer a very good looking alternative to hair loss. A good hair replacement system can even be used to form the hair line for swept back hair.

There are also some shampoos and lotions available today that can help with hair loss. Many of these shampoos that shows great potential for attacking the scourge of a balding head. When the product is applied as directed many users report very satisfactory results.

There are other topical products that are also available. The ones that seem to offer the best treatment are based on the use of Minoxidil. This drug is certified by the FDA to be affective in the fight against baldness.

Another option is hair implants. With this procedure a cosmetic surgeon removes hair follicle units from one area of the scalp and transplants them into the bald spot. This method costs more than others but it is very effective at getting hair to grow where it had fallen out. Men particularly have been helped with this method.

Female pattern baldness can be treated with a process known as follicular unit extraction. This new procedure allows for the removal of individual hair units from the skin. This means any area of the scalp can be used as a donor area along with other parts of the body that have hair growth. The beauty of this method is it allows for treatment even if a woman is suffering thin hair along with the patchy baldness

The laser comb is the last method to talk about. This device has been around for a few years but there have been no clinical studies that indicate it actually works. That being said, many users of the product offer anecdotal evidence to its effectiveness. The FDA says it will do no harm but they also have not specified that it actually does any good.

Hair loss and baldness is no laughing matter. If you are suffering the embarrassment from this then know there are options available. Look into these treatments and chose the one that seems right for you. - 30246
