Reading Glasses Can Keep You Reading When The Years Creep Up On You

By Jennifer Smith

You're wondering if you need reading glasses. The question arose after you accused the local newspaper owner of reducing the quality of his print. Then there was the incident when you misread one teaspoon of salt in a recipe, adding one tablespoon instead. So here you are, trying to decide if the time has come to give your eyeballs a break!

If you appreciate your sight, you will probably decide to visit an optometrist. And if he tells you that you need glasses, you will have some choices to make.

Your first decision- How much money are you willing to sink into a pair of eyeglasses? Do you want the toughest specs out there? Do you want glasses that will take minor accidents in stride and retain their usefulness? For the accident-prone, good quality glasses may be essential.

The second question-What should I do, since I cannot afford the diamond studded glasses? Chances are you will decide to buy several very cheap pairs. Although not noted for longevity, they have some advantages. You will be able to have a pair in every room, and some in your car. If you happen to destroy a pair, not to worry! They are a dime a dozen.

The third question- What plans do you have to prevent the loss or damage of your glasses? Many people prefer to invest in a sturdy glasses case, rather than get a glasses chain. Each system has its good and bad points. You are unlikely to lose a pair of specs on a chain around your neck, but they are exposed to whatever you are doing. It is irritating to find yourself tethered to objects you get too close to. A glasses case can work well, but you may place it carefully somewhere and leave it there by mistake. You must decide what advantages you want to have.

So, now you have looked at your choices, what do you think you will do? Will you go first class with the best eyewear technology can provide, or will you head to the discount store and see their products? Will you use a glasses case or a string? It really is up to you. No one can advise you on this subject.

Now that you have thought it over, you probably realize that there is one decision that is not really optional. If you need reading glasses, you should do whatever it takes to protect your eyes from strain. Get the glasses if you need them. - 30246
