Adult Bedwetting May Be A Sign Of A More Serious Condition

Surprisingly a good number of otherwise healthy middle-aged adults suffer from adult bed wetting. Healthy men and women who suffer from night time bed wetting are often too ashamed to inform their doctor about this problem. Sadly, these people could probably be helped if they spoke to a qualified doctor. When we think of people wetting the bed we usually think about small children learning to use the bathroom or very aged people who are unable to control themselves.

This medical malady also affects strong and healthy younger adults and even teenagers who have no other health concerns. Incontinence during the day can be a problem with many people elderly people, adult bedwetting seems to affect people from all walks of life and cultural groups. It is not only elderly adults who suffer from uncontrollable bed wetting.

Some sufferers have grown up wetting their beds all their lives, while some people later develop a bed wetting problem after living years with no problems at all. Not all men and women have the same kinds of bed wetting problems. There are two main types of adult bed wetting - primary nocturnal enuresis and secondary nocturnal enuresis and the symptoms and treatments are different for each type. Each type of bedwetting has a chance of being able to be prevented with medical solutions designed to help mature bedwetters.

Often people who suffer from primary nocturnal enuresis are from families with a genetic history. Genes can play a big role in an adult's issues with night time bed wetting. Adults who wet the bed throughout the decades of their lives are could also have medical problems called by physical injuries that are causing their bed wetting. Adults who have had bed wetting issues all their lives are said to suffer from primary nocturnal enuresis.

Another type of enuresis can sometimes be caused by stress, excessive alcohol consumption before sleep or a physical malady that occurred later in life. Unexpected occurrences of bed wetting are usually attributed to secondary nocturnal enuresis, which is also referred to as adult onset bed wetting. This type of bed wetting is known as secondary nocturnal enuresis and it is the term used to describe men and women who being wetting the bed later in life.

Bed wetting can often be the sign of a more dangerous physical or psychological condition. Though it's an shameful problem for millions of people, it's important to not forget that bed wetting is a symptom of something and not an actual sickness by itself.
